#IWTTW April 2017
Well, we had a fantastic response to our first Teacher Taster Weekend which took place on 1st/2nd April 2017.
We've learned a few valuable lessons along the way to help us make the next event even more relevant and slightly better organised, so we thank our "guinea pigs" on the first TTW for bearing with us!
We had a fantastic two days in glorious sunshine visiting and trying out venues such as Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary, The Model Village, Godshill, Dinosaur Isle, Goodleaf Tree Climbing, Blackgang Chine, IW Steam Railway and Osborne House.
The feedback received so far from everyone involved has been absolutely brilliant and we look forward to welcoming some of you back with your schools in due course. Over the next couple of weeks we'll be analysing feedback, collecting and posting photos and video clips and announcing the winner of our "funniest photo" competition!
THANK YOU to everyone involved in making this such a memorable and exciting weekend. We're already looking forward to doing it again soon!

The Weekend's Itinerary
Saturday 1st April
All aboard the floating classroom!
Join us on the 09:00 Red Funnel sailing from Southampton for breakfast, a brief introduction to Education Destination and the opportunity to meet and greet your travelling companions. See first hand how Southampton Water and The Solent make such great Human & Physical Geography teaching resources whilst tucking into a yummy roll.
Explore Island life in miniature at The Model Village, Godshill!
Step into this meticulously maintained freeze-frame of 1930s Island life and you will soon understand how we can use this miniature world to deliver curriculum learning in the most innovative and imaginative ways! Teach everything from KS1 English and Science through to KS4 Design & Technology and Leisure & Tourism in this beautifully presented attraction.
Meet 100+ cute creatures at Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary!
Home to dozens of abandoned donkeys, horses, ponies and many more animals, the sanctuary is the perfect place to undertake hands-on learning led by experienced instructors. From KS1 Maths and R.E. to KS3 P.S.H.E. and English, the sanctuary offers an incredible range of learning opportunities. Meet the farm manager for a guided tour, and walk or groom some of the animals in order to demonstrate some of the unforgettable on-site activities available for your students.
Prehistoric fun at Dinosaur Isle!
The UK's first purpose built interactive dinosaur museum houses a huge collection of fossils discovered right here on the Isle of Wight, one of the world's top fossil hunting grounds. A qualified paleontologist will lead you in a fun artefact handling session (watch out for the Coprolites (dino poo!)) followed by a tour of the museum's amazing collections.
Learn the art of tree climbing with Goodleaf!
A chance for you to try out this unique sport! Using a special climbing technique, even children as young as 8 can improve their self confidence and learn the ropes! Why not have a try under the watchful eye of the qualified instructors, or have a go at one of our tree-related activities.!
You will be staying the night at YMCA Winchester House in Shanklin, one of our most popular student accommodation providers. After settling in and having a bite to eat, you are invited to meet many of the educational visitor attractions that we couldn't cram into the itinerary at our mini Trade Fair event on Saturday evening over a glass of wine.
Sunday 2nd April
Enter the World of Imagination at Blackgang!
The UK's oldest theme park is usually top of most schools' wish list for their Isle of Wight trip, but now you can also try out their impressive range of pre-visit, on-site and post-visit educational resources covering everything from pirates to dinosaurs! Explore the amazing animatronics of Restricted Area 5! and even have a whirl on the Cliffhanger roller coaster!
Farmyard Fun at Tapnell!

Explore Train Story, a hands-on interactive museum detailing the history of transport on the Island from Victorian times to the present day.
