The Model Village at Godshill is jam packed full of meticulously and humourously crafter scale models of the local area, mostly set in the early part of the 20th Century. Leave the hustle and bustle of modern life at the gate and keep your eyes peeled for little islanders at work and play!
As this is such an accurate depiction of Godshill and nearby Shanklin it is a goldmine for teachers looking to deliver a variety of topics in a unique setting outside the classroom. For example, the fixed scale used throughout the site lends itself well to maths and geometry puzzles. For Art & Design students they can study the model making process, methods and techniques. In science there's the biology of the thousands of manicured bonsai shrubs and trees, and even a nod to renewable energy techniques. But as a PSHE opportunity the model village makes a great safe space.
In our experience, school trips to The Model Village, Godshill work best for the younger age groups as well as adults
