Closure of YMCA Winchester House to school residential visits

We have been advised that YMCA Winchester House in Shanklin, part of the YMCA Fairthorne Group, is closing after the summer season.

Apart from the local businesses and groups that are based there, YMCA has been a long-standing favourite for school residential visits, given its large capacity, excellent catering and magnificent clifftop sea views. It will be a sad loss and we wish the departing staff well in their next chapter.

For schools impacted by the YMCA Winchester House closure, be assured that we will try our hardest to put together a comparable package at a comparable price in order that you can continue your Isle of Wight visit as planned.

Education Destination has capacity for most 2026 dates using a variety of school friendly accommodation partners right across the Isle of Wight, from basic self-catered dormitory units to quality full-service resort hotels.
