This is an English writing (composition) task that enables students to practise their writing skills, specifically to review and to comment.

Contextual Summary


The task links to the students’ visit to Dinosaur Isle and is relevant to students in Key Stages 2 and 3. This task links the visit with core English writing/composition skills and allows students the opportunity to reflect on their learning and experience.

Pre-Visit

Review and comment skills could be pre-taught in class prior to the trip so students are aware of the information they need to note during the trip.

On-Site

Noting down features they may want to include in their review: What they can do here; Things they learn; How they enjoyed the features of the museum (expert talk, interactive exhibits, dinosaur models, fossil walk, etc.)

Post-Visit

Completion of the English/Writing resource/s linked to this document

Learning Outcomes

Students will be able to demonstrate their reflection skills; they will be able to write a coherent and relevant review with comment on the key features of the Dinosuar Isle museum and learning therein.
