The resource is a series of questions that link directly to the Isle of Wight Steam Railway?s Train Story exhibition and museum; as the students follow the exhibition, they will learn about how the railways on the Isle of Wight have changed from the past to the present.

Students have to interpret information and summarise/record their responses to the questions.

Students are able to practise their interpretation skills whilst engaging with historical aspects of the Isle of Wight Steam Railway. The task is relevant to students in key stage 2 (upper and lower years) and key stage 3.

Implementation

This is an on-site task.

It is suggested to teachers that they introduce the background of the railway, in particular the history of the Isle of Wight railway network and its demise, as a class pre-learning activity.
