Implementation

During their journey on the Red Funnel ferry, pupils can use a digital camera and a sketch book to capture a variety of images which inspire them. They should be encouraged to photograph/sketch a range of scenes (see task suggestions). Upon return to school, students will be given time to investigate the images captured and decide which are their favourites (some may want to focus on elements within the photographs, rather than the whole image, if preferred). Following this, they will need to investigate different examples of seascape art work, using the internet. They should find examples which use different media before deciding which one inspires them the most. After making their choice, they should produce their image using the method which enthuses them (e.g. charcoal/pencil/textiles etc.). Once the first piece of work is complete, their second piece will be a 3d pop-up sculpture. Students will then reflect on their finished pieces and decide which piece of work they prefer and why.
