Students have to interpret information and summarise/record their responses to the questions.

Students are able to practise their interpretation skills whilst engaging with historical aspects of the Isle of Wight Steam Railway. The task is relevant to students in key stage 2 (upper and lower years) and key stage 3.

Implementation

This is an on-site task.

It is suggested to teachers that they introduce the background of the railway, in particular the history of the Isle of Wight railway network and its demise, as a class pre-learning activity.

An understanding of the general history of transport and its development would also be useful preparation for this task.

When on site at the Train Story exhibition, students will be able to undertake the task elements and can practise their interpretation.
