This is an investigatory resource looking at careers in the maritime industry. Pupils will match skills to jobs and question gender suitability. The objective is to break down gender stereotypes. There are two lesson plans included in the resource and an optional task to be completed on board the Wightlink ferry.

Implementation

The pre visit lesson introduces the subject and pupils will consider and discuss their own opinions. After some research, their initial thoughts will be revisited. During this lesson a questionnaire can be created for during the visit. A post visit lesson provides opportunities for role play where pupils apply for and construct interviews for posts.
