Implementation

During their visit to The Model Village Godshill, students will take photographs of some of the scenes which they see. They should be encouraged to consider the foreground and background of their photographs, and ensure that the miniature trees are incorporated in to their images. Lower key stage 2 students should be encouraged to incorporate plant/tree life in their photographs. All students should also be encouraged to take close-up shots of the leaf structure of some of the trees so that they can be closely examined at a later date. Upon return to school, upper key stage 2 students will complete two tasks. The first task will require them to complete pencil drawings of the different leaf types. They will need to consider the leaf shapes and experiment with techniques in order to show texture. The second task will be to recreate their favourite scene which they photographed. They will need to consider their use of colour carefully in order to show the different shades of yellow/green/brown trees. It is suggested that they use pencil crayons or paint for this task. Lower key stage 2 students will choose their favourite photograph and give reasons for their choices. They will cut their photograph in half, either vertically, horizontally or diagonally. When they have stuck this down on to a sheet of paper, they will have to sketch the missing half, before completing it with colour (referring to the original photograph). Once this is complete, they can compare the original photograph with their completed composition. *The size of the composition can be at the teacher?s discretion (as it could be enlarged on a photocopier, if required).
