Students can classify plants and animals by observing various characteristics and enter them onto the classification worksheet. They can also investigate variation in leaves and state how the variation is beneficial to the plant. Students will then complete a worksheet to discover the importance of biodiversity.
This resource is for students at key stage 4 and relates to the ‘Ecosystems’ part of the Science National Curriculum, focusing on classification and biodiversity.
The tasks link to various woodland and garden areas at Robin Hill that students will walk through whilst enjoying the various activities.
It is suggested to teachers that students be introduced to biodiversity and classification systems prior to their visit.
